God's Promises for You

The Book of Acts

September 21, 2017

Acts 1:4 & 5 (NKJV)
And being assembled together with them, He (Jesus) commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."

"However, when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth;" (John 16:13a)

Acts 2:2 - 4 (NKJV)
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

"for He (Holy Spirit) will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will tell you things to come." (John 16:13b)

Praying in the Spirit gives you the ability to hear the Voice of your Father

Acts 2:36  & 37 (NKJV)
"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." (Acts 2:38 & 39)

God is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

We are the beloved children of our Father

Acts 2:46 & 47 (NKJV)
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22 - 25)

Acts 3:6 - 8 (NKJV)
Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." And he took him (the lame man) by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them - walking, leaping and praising God.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father." (John 14:12)

All things are possible for those of us who believe

Acts 4:29  & 30 (NKJV)

"Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus."

And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. (Acts 4:31)

There is power in God's Word - Be bold and be amazed

Acts 5:12 (NKJV)
And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's Porch.

And believer's were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented  by unclean spirits, and they were all healed. (Acts 5:14 - 16)

The same Peter who just a short time before denied he ever knew Jesus - God our Father is both forgiving and loving

Acts 9:32 & 33 (NKJV)
Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all parts of the country, that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda. There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years and was paralyzed.

And Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed." Then he arose immediately. So all who dwelt in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord. (Acts 9:34 & 35)

Now that is an Alter Call!

Acts 9:36 & 37 (NKJV)
At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. But it happened in those days that she  became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.

And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, "Tabitha arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. Then he gave her his hand and lifted her up; and when he called the saints and widows, he presented her alive. (Acts 9:38 - 41)

Acts 10:38 (NKJV)

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Jesus said, "I came that you might have life, and that you might have life more abundantly; it is the devil who comes to steal your peace, kill your joy, and destroy you and all that you love." (John 10:10)

Abba, Father Your Word says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow; help us to stretch our faith, to strengthen our resolve, to be all that You have called us to be, followers of our Lord and Savior, Your Son Jesus Christ, in both spirit and in deed; it is in His glorious name that we rejoice and pray. Amen.
