Robert Lucero Story

My name is Bob Lucero and I am the general manager of McDonald’s in Caddo Mills, Texas. My job is to carry out and maintain the high standards of quality and service of our company.

We are focused on making the customer number one, and hiring people with the potential to advance in the business. It is important to lead by example and teach and develop good work ethics and strong moral character. I would like to open with a quote before I tell you my story.

He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. - Psalm 40:2-3

Billy Graham uses the following phrase in his Invitations: "If you don't know Christ as your personal Savior, and if you are not sure where you will spend eternity…" At the age of nineteen I was in the second category, I was not sure! I had been brought up to believe in God. I spent my early adolescence in my denomination receiving religious instruction while attending parochial school. I had a God consciousness as far back as I can remember. By the age of seven I wanted to serve God. I expressed to my parents that I was going to ask the Parrish priest’s permission to become an Altar Boy. Sunday arrived and when we arrived at the church I summoned up my courage and made my way to the altar and was given a cassock (Robe). My first official duty was to ring the Bell and lead the priest into the Sanctuary. While standing in the vestibule, I had asked the LORD to accept me into the church before Mass. I was immediately accepted in His service and that morning my prayers were answered.

Having learned most of the Liturgy in Latin, the Parish Priest asked me to serve Mass with him during Chapel with the Nuns during the week. This meant walking three to four miles and being at the chapel by 5:30 A.M. The first morning as I was making my way to chapel I was in fear of walking in the dark. I remember being taught that the Holy Spirit was always with me, so I began to pray to the Holy Spirit. I had never been instructed on seeking the Holy Spirit, but as I was making my way to the chapel and praying, I experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues.

In my late teens there were two things that were keeping me tethered to God in spite of a downward spiral and journey into destructive and sinful behavior. I was escaping from the effects of a dysfunctional family. I was caught up in the drug & hippie counter culture and the rock and roll psychedelic scene of the 1960's, but the connection tethering me to God was coming from the gospel telecast of Oral Roberts and Rex Humbard. I found myself putting God into the deep freeze in order to pursue the counter culture revolution and psychedelic scene. From age 17 to 19 my life spun out of control as I indulged myself in decadent behavior and a nefarious life style. My life was in shambles. I began to ask God for a miracle in my life.

At age nineteen shortly before my 20th birthday I arrived in Fort Worth, Texas, to await adjudication in New Mexico. My second day in Texas I came into a very direct encounter with the gospel and made a decisive decision to surrender my life to Christ. This was over 42 years ago. My entire life changed. During my first year of this new spiritual journey, I was adjudicated and dismissed, enrolled at Tarrant County Junior College, and distributed over 32,000 gospel tracks. I witnessed to the counterculture members and gave my testimony in various school district across Texas where I was invited to speak during the early war on drugs. In the following years, I had many evangelistic opportunities to teach and direct at a Christian youth camp and street ministry in Deep Elm, Sundance Square, and Forest Park. I introduced Christ to the workplace in various enterprises, and even had breakfast with President of the United States.
These activities and many more have taken me on a journey where I share and promote the gospel of Jesus Christ. I witnessed the transforming power of the gospel and how a testimony of Jesus Christ can change lives within my own family and the marketplace.

I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise… (Intellectuals & Thugs)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every- one that believeth… (The Apostle Paul to the Romans)
