Luke 15:20 - 24 (NKJV)
"And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.' But the father said to his servants bring out the best robe and put it on him and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it and let us eat and be merry; for this is my son who was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. And they began to be merry."
These wonderful words of Jesus are life and hope to the world, God our Father is continually searching for the lost and when one stray and lost person makes the slightest move toward God, He our Father, rushes to his side, surrounding him with His pure love and forgiveness urging him to do the one thing and only thing that will complete the reunion - say yes to Jesus, and then God pours out His very best, His Son Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit.
James 4:7 & 8 (NKJV)
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Every time I read this scripture I get happy, that simple small step of saying yes to Jesus brings us the fullness of God; His love, His forgiveness, His joy, His peace, His provision and His protection. We become His beloved children, adopted into His family, joint heirs with Jesus Christ.
Abba Father You are not slack in Your desire that all should come to repentance and say yes to Jesus (2 Peter 3:9), how awesome it is that Your greatest desire is for us to be with You forever, for us to be Your people and You our God (Revelation 21:3); it is in the name of our Lord and our Savior Christ Jesus that we pray. Amen.
