Randall Graeber

My name is Randall Graeber.  I began my career in the Oriental Rug Business in May/June of 1970, in the Oriental Rug Gallery which was then located in Joske’s of Texas, the legendary premiere department store of San Antonio, Texas. By the spring of 1982, I was transferred to the Dallas, NorthPark Center location where I was promoted to General Manager and Buyer. When my wife and I left San Antonio, we were quite fortunate to sell our home for a considerable profit.  We were able to buy a beautiful 4400 square foot home in North Dallas. As I was promised nearly twice what I had been making before in San Antonio, this should not have been a problem.

There was now a recession in the economy, and I started making about one half of what I had been making before. Our new house payment that was nearly three times higher than what we were formerly used to paying. I had also financed and bought a new car just before we left San Antonio. And to top of it all off, I discovered that a tax shelter that my accountant had sold me on turned out to be a total fraud. We were now looking at an IRS settlement of approximately $40,000.00! With all of our money tied up in our new home and the revelation that our marriage was slowly deteriorating, I had pretty much come to the end of my rope.

In the spring of 1982, I closed the doors to my office and fell on my knees where I cried out to God! I held up a “Green -- Living Bible” in my right hand, and said, “God -- I am tired of the Churches, and I am tired of the Pastors, but I am not tired of You, and I know that Your answer is in this Word, and I am asking You to open it to me, like You have never opened it before!”

My life was totally transformed that night. From that point on, I could not put the Bible down. I must have read and re-read the New Testament several times within the next three or four months. I got very heavy into the Old Testament as well! It was here in God’s Word that the Lord began to teach me about the baptism of the Holy Ghost, laying on of hands, and casting out devils. It was not from a Church. I never heard these things taught in the traditional denominational church that I grew up in. I also began to listen a great deal too Christian radio, including: Dr. Kenneth Hagin, Bob Tilton, and others, as well as, watching many television evangelists, including Jimmy Swaggert and Dr. Billy Graham.

I then began to cry out day and night to the Lord, as to what I should do next. Should I continue on in the Oriental Rug Industry, or whether to open a retail or wholesale facility on my own, or even go into the ministry? The Lord, spoke to me one night as I was reading His Word, and this scripture leaped off the page, (1 Corinthians 7:20-21 NIV)  "Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called him – verse 21. Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you--although if you can gain your freedom, do so." With this in mind, the Lord impressed me to start a retail store, and He enabled us to sell our home, for a $15,000.00 profit. We moved into a smaller home in Richardson, Texas. In September 1983, we had the grand opening of “World Of Rugs, Inc.,” in Dallas, Texas.

In February 1984, I began to attend Word of Faith, where I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and I continued to grow in the Lord. But like the book of Job in the Bible, my life was about to change with another onslaught of problems! Our store began to have financial problems. By August 1984, the bank that held our SBA loan began to attack in a variety of ways. My wife who had been helping in the store, stopped coming in and she would never return. On January 10, 1985, she left me (unannounced) while I was at work that day. On Tuesday, February 11, 1986, God spoke to me in an audible voice -- One Word, “EXODUS!” I saw the same word appear in an Arch of White Flaming Fire in my mind! I asked the Lord, “What Part?” My spirit said, “Start from the Beginning!” By Monday, March 3, 1986, that is exactly what the Lord did for me. He enabled me to; close the store, sell the entire inventory, and walk through a divorce. In April, 1986, with Lord’s help, I started a new business, “Cornerstone Oriental Rugs & Floor Coverings.”

By February 21, 1995, ten years later, I had faithfully prayed for my first wife, and I never took off my wedding ring or dated another woman. But when she remarried in November 1994, God’s answer proved far better than I had could possibly imaginable in that He immediately brought me “PAULA” and we were married in May 27, 1995!

Scripture revealed:

"This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and has written them, and we know that his testimony is true. But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written" -- John 21:24-25 NRSV.
