Finlay Seaton

Finlay Seaton   In my 50's, I found myself lying on the floor of my house with no one near me. I was weeping like a baby and hearing voices. The strange thing was that I was losing my business and my home at that time. I thought I was losing my mind as well. But that might be my salvation experience. I thought there must be another story, a catalyst, and there must be something else. I realized it was a story concerning my late wife, and that is a story I'd like to tell you that she lived in the house with her grandmother, mother and disabled aunt.

Her father was killed during the war. She was a quiet, peaceful lady, but suddenly when her mother died, she wondered, “What happened to all my mother’s and my grandmother’s stuff.” It started to trouble my wife and she was becoming a nasty, nasty thing. She was actually quite peaceful; however, I drove her to meet with all these aunts. I was on my way outside and I can hear my wife shouting. So I went into the house to see what was going on. And as I was going in, she was coming out and she said, "You, out!" And we traveled back to our home and never spoke of what we have done. That was the end of it. She said, "I trust you and our two daughters, but I do not trust no one else in this world." And she changed from this beautiful, lovely chatty lady. I didn't like this new lady so much. And with my massive arrogance, I phoned a minister, and asked, "Can you speak with my wife?" And he said, “He would if she agrees.” So he came over and spoke with my wife and the first thing he said, “Would you go and make the coffee, please?” So I made two minute instant coffee and went into the room and said, “Coffee.” When he finished talking with my wife, I saw that she was changed back to her old self. She had this beautiful smile. I wonder what he did. She said, “He read Matthew 5:9 to me." I said, "I don't have a Bible. What does it say?” She said, we have Bibles and go read it yourself. So I read it and the verse said “Blessed are the peacemakers ….” So I sat the Bible on the setee. That scripture changed her life. It was incredible. It astonished me how this one verse helped change her life, so I said, "Sweetheart would you like to go to church?" She says, "I'll go to church if you come with me." And I did go and we attended regularly.

I met a man in the street and I said to the man, "Are you a Christian?” And he asked, “Are you?" He invited me to a Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship meeting and it changed my life as they disciple me.

I now have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and that was paramount in my life. So I just want to say to you, if you don't know Jesus, you can. Just ask Him to come into your life, and it doesn't cost you anything. In Romans 10:9-10 it says, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with the mouth you confess and are saved.” Your life will be changed forever.

I know two people who were changed - my wife and me.
