Dave Duell

Dave Duell of Denver, Colorado, gives his testimony of going from cattle rancher to travelling to over seventy nations as an evangelist. Dave is the founder of Faith Heights Church.

I first met Dave Duell at the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI) Regional Convention in 1992. Dave was the keynote speaker.

I looked over at my wife and said, "I need some of that new wine (spiritual rejuvenation) that Dave is serving."

I went to the platform and stood in line. Dave was going through the line and running his hand behind each person, but never physically touching anyone. He called it a "Chop." The next thing I knew, I could see my feet level with my head, and my body was floating to the floor. It felt like I landed on feathers and was laughing uncontrollably for forty-five minutes. I experienced the new wine and received great joy. When I looked up, I could see my friends laughing at me while I was cackling on the floor. No longer was I dry on the inside, but overflowing with the joy of the Lord. Please read and listen to Dave's story.

Hello, my name is Dave Duell and I'm glad you tuned in today. I have a great story to tell you that happens to be mine. I'm excited about what Jesus has done in my life and want to give you a little background today.

I grew up on a farm and ranch near Greeley, Colorado. My parents were Christians and I'm the youngest of thirteen children. It was a busy time around our house. My dad was very faithful about going to church and influenced all of us. I even had a sixteen-year pin for not missing one day of Sunday School. I always said my dad deserved that pin and I didn't.

I knew about Jesus, and was born-again when I was twelve years of age.

I married a wonderful person named Bonnie McCartney, from Chicago, Illinois. I took her out to the ranch, which was a big change for her to go from the city life to the country life. Her friend said you could see the end of the world from there. We became involved in the church, as board members, and worked with the youth. One day what really changed my life, was curiosity, I was reading the Bible and read a story of Jesus, wondering why any of this wasn't happening to me.

Because Jesus said in Mark 16, "These signs shall follow them that believe; they lay hands on the sick, cast out devils, and speak in new tongues."

I'd never seen any of that. So I got hungry and bought a horse from a guy sight unseen. He was charismatic, which means you're filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues. My church warned me about people like this, but I followed this guy around, saw my first miracles and he invited me to the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship Regional Convention in Denver.

I'd never been to one before and travelled about seventy miles from my home by myself and I heard the speaker talking about what I was really wanting to hear. This guy got me so hungry and talked about miracles. He invited all those who wanted to be baptized in the Holy Ghost and receive this power.
Jesus said in Acts 1:8, "You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost comes upon you."

This happened to me, I went up and was baptized in the Holy Ghost and it changed my life. That was on Saturday night, and on Sunday morning, I told my church what happened and they kicked me out. They asked me to leave and I ended up in the Presbyterian Church. We started a prayer and praise worship team and great things happened there.

My ministry started with laying hands on sick calves and horses, and God would heal them. Then I started practicing on people and God was healing them. I gave my testimony for about ten years at Full Gospel Business Men's meetings all over the country. Then one day, we started a large group with some college students. We had a speaker to come in, named Jade Levens from Little Rock, Arkansas. He called me one night and started speaking in tongues, and then he spoke in English and said that all of us would begin to prophesize. God called me into the ministry that night. He called me to be a pastor and I didn't want to be one.

God changed my life again and we started a church in my hometown of Greeley, Colorado. We were there about sixteen years, became heavily involved in missions and started going to different nations. We moved to Denver and started another church, and have been there about sixteen years. During this time, we've travelled to seventy-six countries in the world.

Many times, we've seen every kind of miracle you can imagine. It's a real privilege to preach the good news. The good news is this; God loves you. I found out it's not what we do for Him like religion teaches, it's what He did for us.

It's not how I see God, it's how God sees me.
