Andre’ and his wife Cynthia are the Founders and Pastors of Community Fellowship International Church in Durham, North Carolina. He is also the President and CEO of Anointed Word Ministries, Inc. His church ministers to business leaders, college students, the homeless and rest home residents with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

My name is Andre Gorham, and I grew up in Walstonburg, North Carolina. I love books, thanks to my mom. Most of the time, when I was in high school, I was in the library. I was basically a practicing intellectual and studied journalism in high school. I loved all my English teachers in high school and college. My older family cousin, saw me when I was seven, eight years old, and said, "You are going to be a preacher one day." Then his sister, a month later, said something similar to that. I never thought much about it.

When I was in college, I started to have this conviction. People at my home church were praying for the young people. The first Sunday of each month, they would bring all the young people to the front of the church and they would pray for them. This was a Missionary Baptist Church. So, I thought everybody was Baptist.

There was a little old lady in the church that said, "I am praying for you Andre when you go to college..." and I thought that was interesting since I didn’t drink alcohol, and I didn’t smoke cigarettes. I thought, "What is this all about." My freshman roommate in college tried every drug on the market. He was always trying to persuade me to taste his version of life with all kinds of alcohol and drugs. I wasn’t interested in this lifestyle nor was I concerned about this. This was all new to me. Eventually, I moved off campus with my roommate who I knew from high school and the track team. We worked together also farming in high school; however, I didn’t know that he loved drugs. He loved marijuana and dope. A few members of the basketball team would come in on the weekends, and they would roll joints all weekend.

For some reason I wasn’t interested in this lifestyle and tried to be moral. Then years later I remembered this lady who was four feet tall praying for me. It seemed at that time that everybody was trying to lead me to Christ. There was a certain PhD professor that would pray for his students and workers. I felt conviction through these prayers. So, one day, as I was walking across campus back to my apartment and saw this Baptist Church and I felt the Holy Spirit conviction. So I went around the building and said, "Lord, I know that I am not in a church. I just want to find out who you are and where you are..." And through these little prayers, I felt the leading of the Holy Spirit to join the military.

Despite all the intellectual stuff, I could feel God’s presence inside of me. I could feel God moving me, but I didn’t want to leave college. However, I needed to pay my college loans. I needed to find God’s will for my life, and I could feel this presence of God. I know it was because of the prayers. So, in order to discover God’s will for my life, I was going to memorize the Bible. So, if someone tries to tell me about Jesus Christ, I was going to give them chapter and verse. I didn’t know anything about this Jesus faith, even though I grew up going to church. Well, I decided to give twelve months of dedication to this “Jesus” thing to see if there was anything to it. Well, that was over thirty-five years ago. When I started to read the Bible, it just seemed to come alive and made sense to me.

I loved reading and studying William Shakespeare and other classical writers, but they could not compare with the Bible. I was done with these guys. As I started memorizing the Bible, I was going to find out about this Jesus Christ. When I went into the Air Force, I was trained in technology. I had the worst encounter with the technology professor that I have ever had in my life. I was building telecommunication towers, and I was the slowest person. For the first time in my life, I thought I would fail at something academically. In the end, I just started praying. It seemed like the teacher would speak to me and I would start spinning.

I thought I would stay here in Germany and determined that God was really worth living for. While I was in Germany, I made up my mind to learn the language over the next twelve months. In high school and college, I studied French, but the Air Force didn’t have a base in France, so I got an assignment to Germany. While in Germany, I enrolled in the University of Maryland and took 9 semester hours of German.

I began to meet more Christians that were filled with the Holy Spirit in Germany. I got baptized in the Holy Spirit and asked God to give me my wife. I prayed, "Lord, if you give me a wife and three boys, I will tell the whole world about you." I had no idea what was happening, but I made this vow. While I was in Germany, God told me that my future wife was Cynthia. She came to visit me and stayed with some church members at my church in Germany. Once she arrived, though within a month we got married. Cynthia was enrolled in graduate school at Howard University in Washington, D.C. and thought that I would be stationed at Andrew's Air Force Base. However, God changed things.

However, Cynthia arrived in Germany and stayed with some members of our church until we got married. She arrived in July and remained through the month of August. We got married in an old German village. To my delight, my favorite German teacher conducted the wedding ceremony. There were a lot of Holy Ghost things happening that were confirmations from God that we were in His will. So, God gave me my wife, and we were shipped, through the Air Force, to South Dakota. I received my license and ordination to do ministry. While there, this began my life of prayer as I know it today. I have been living my life for Jesus all my adult life. I do not know one day outside of my adult life that I wasn’t serving Him. When I turned twenty, I dedicated my life to God. That prayer part began the best part my journey.

I got into the miracle healing ministry in 1994. I knew some businessmen that I was praying for, and the Lord told us to get together. This man's wife had major seizures for twenty-four years and God healed her right on the spot. Then his grandmother who was eighty-five years old who hadn’t walked on her own for twelve years was healed. The Holy Spirit said, "Pull her out of her wheel-chair." I pulled her out of the wheelchair and pushed it out of her way, and she started walking. This was the first powerful miracle that I experienced.
We started a TV ministry in February of 1993. We began producing radio broadcasts in 1992. I learned about the power of prayer in the 1980's and it changed my life. It is written in the Bible (John 14:14): “If you shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” That little lady at the Baptist Church saw a call on my life for prayer in 1982. I decided I would know more about prayer. As I studied prayer, we would pray over the radio for people. That was God’s plan for my life.

I studied German at the University of Maryland at Hahn Air Base in Germany. I just fell in love with everything German. Of course, I loved German composers and writers before living in Germany. I felt the call on my life to go to the nations. The Lord directed me to pray for businesses and leaders. From the time God gave me a wife and three boys, I knew that He wanted to fulfill our dreams. Prayer works through a believer and he will accomplish His will on this earth. God told me in 1999 to go to the Philippines and I didn’t know where to start. So, I started in Southeast Asia. China, Singapore, and Malaysia, but my basic testimony is this: I love the Lord Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and Savior; I love miracles, signs and wonders.

I love working with people from around the world. I first started praying for businesspeople and global business leaders in the Philippines, then Singapore, Hong Kong and then Malaysia. We ministered at the International headquarters in Singapore for investment capitalist. Then when I went to Hong Kong, we ministered to many multimillionaires. We realized that God wanted to touch world leaders in the business communities. So that is one of the reasons I like working with Full Gospel businessmen’s Fellowship. I love praying for businesspeople. I love encouraging them to allow God to be their partner in the business matters. So that is basically an outline of my life. I love my wife. She has been a great blessing to me. She is the bone of my bone and flesh and my flesh. I love my boys.

I just thank God for honoring His word. I love the Philippines and Southeast Asia. I spent much of my time preaching, praying, and teaching in that part of the world. When God told me to go to the Philippines, I thought it would be one trip, and we would work our way back to Germany. I have done over thirty trips to SE Asia since 1999. I didn’t know it then, but this is when we started our global outreach. I just give God the glory. God answered the prayers of a little lady and my life was changed forever. That is basically my testimony. I want to thank God for His goodness and for His faithfulness to me.
