Matthew Dell Story

MatthewDellMy name is Matthew Dell.  I am the owner of In The Sun Tech – a website development and management company.   I would like to tell you my personal story.

The underlying theme of how God came to me is the same for everyone.

As a 25 year old, I had already spent several years bar hopping and hanging out with older people.  All I knew was how to party.  Many times the fun didn’t start until I showed up.  I drank daily.  I smoked pot daily, and when God got a hold of me during a six month cocaine binge.

No matter what day of the week, I was in downtown Orlando going from club to club.  In the bathrooms, my so-called friends and I would do lines of cocaine, take hits of LSD, and drink.  I was searching and seeking the next high, the next party, the next group that would accept me.

I didn’t grow up in a house that worshipped God.  I believe that God existed, but I did not have a personal relationship with Him.

My mom was married and divorced several times.  The longest relationship my mom had, at that time, was with my adopted step-dad.  We did some fun things together. We attended sporting events, family events and went fishing but there was no true love of a father.  I can’t recall every hearing “I love you or I’m proud of you.”  There was no real father figure in my life.  By the time I was twenty-five, when I met Jesus, I had moved over thirty times.

I had struggled to get released from the addictions.  I went to therapists and group counseling.  But my will power was not enough to overcome the temptation.  I knew there was more to life, but I couldn’t find the answer.  I read every book I could get my hands on but couldn’t find true freedom.  I even read a Bible, but it just didn’t make sense.  How could God love me?

One afternoon at work, I felt compelled to share my burdens with a colleague.  I told him I wanted to change and needed to change but didn’t know how.  He spoke words that I never heard before in my life, “God loves you and Jesus died for you.”  He invited me to his church the following evening.

The next night at this huge church the music was lively and engaging.  The message was about changing your circumstances.  The preacher was speaking directly to me. I sat on the edge of my seat waiting for the answer.  At the end of service, my friend who invited me to church had fourteen other friends with him from Atlanta.  One person from Atlanta asked me if I knew Jesus.  I said I’m not sure.  He asked if I was born-again.  My reply was “I have no idea what you are talking about.”  He asked, “Do you want to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior?”  I said, “I’ve tried it all; I’ll give this Jesus a shot.”

I prayed a pray of repentance and confessed Jesus as my Lord and Savior.  Instantly, I felt a peace like I have never felt before. I felt the burdens that I carried around for years were suddenly lifted.  Then all fifteen people laid hands on me and asked God to deliver me from drugs and alcohol.  Suddenly, I knew without a shadow of doubt that the thirteen years of drugs and alcohol was lifted and gone forever.

I was given a Bible by my friend who invited me to church.  I don’t know much about God but when I first opened my Bible, I asked the Lord to reveal Himself to me and show me who He was.  I knew I was born-again, but I had asked the Lord to show me why I did the things I did that kept me from Him.  The Lord showed me that I didn’t know the love of a father.  Through years of studying and praying, God brought a lot of deliverance to my soul.  I began to understand God as a father and His unconditional love for me.  I also began to understand what it meant to be a son.

God’s Word became alive to me.  Scriptures like 1 John 4:16-19 “God is love” and “there is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out all fear” where not only words on a page but a weapon against the lies of fear I was living in.  Since I didn’t know God’s true love, I was living in deep fear.  I quickly learned that fear also came with pride and a spirit of performance.

The demonic spirit of pride caused me to always have to be the center of attention.  Pride needed to be fed constantly, until God started to bring deliverance.   At the same time, a demonic spirit of performance held me captive and made me feel that I had to perform to be a good Christian or a good son to my heavenly Father.

Through all the deliverance, God helped me understand my authority through the name of Jesus, the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the love of the Father to overcome the enemy and walk in victory.

I am now a licensed and ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through New Creations Ministries in Crestwood, Kentucky under Pastor Dale Bird, Sr.

In the past 20 years, I have had the opportunity to worship my God in music at various churches around the Orlando area.  I have also had the opportunity to lead men’s groups and share my testimony.  In 2012, the Lord called me to Pikeville, Tennessee for ministry, business and family. In Tennessee I met my beautiful wife Leslie and have started my ministry.  In April 2015, we will step out in faith to start our prayer and healing ministry and will hold services at a small pole barn in the middle of a thirty-four acre field called “The Gathering Place.” Our ministry is called E4 Ministries – Ephesians 4:11-16.

“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.”

“Walking is all about in the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit, the authority in the Name of Jesus and the love of the Father.” – Rev. Matthew Dell
