Jesus saves from all evil

Jesus saves from all evil

In the KJV of the Bible, 1 John 4:14 says: "And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.” Read that again slowly and note the significant truth that The Father sent the Son to be the Savior** of the world. This scripture says our Heavenly Father sent His only begotten Son Jesus, to be the Savior of the World. So what does the word “savior” mean? And as Savior, what are we saved from? Note the “savior” translations and definitions of the Greek words “soter” & “sozo” from the Complete Word Study Bible CWSB) and Strong’s Concordance:

** (CWSB Dictionary) 4990. σωτήρ sōtḗr; gen. sōtḗros, masc. noun from sṓzō ***(G4982), to save. A savior, deliverer, preserver, one who saves from danger or destruction and brings into a state of prosperity and happiness (Sept.: Judges 3:9, 15).

*** (CWSB Dictionary) 4982. σώζω sṓzō; fut. sṓsō, aor. pass. esṓthēn, perf. pass. sésōsmai, from sṓs (n.f.), safe, delivered. To save, deliver, make whole, preserve safe from danger, loss, destruction. Trans.: Sṓzō occurs fifty-four times in the Gospels (not counting Luke 17:33 where zōogonḗsei [G2225], to rescue from death, is a better attested reading than sṓsei of the TR; nor Matt. 18:11, omitted in some MSS). Of the instances where sṓzō is used, fourteen relate to deliverance from disease or demon possession (Matthew 9:21, 22; Mark 3:4; 5:23, 28, 34; 6:56; 10:52; Luke 6:9; 8:36, 48, 50; 17:19; 18:42; John 11:12); in twenty instances, the inference is to the rescue of physical life from some impending peril or instant death (Matthew 8:25; 14:30; 16:25; 27:40, 42, 49; Mark 8:35; 15:30, 31; Luke 9:24, 56; 23:35, 37, 39; John 12:27); the remaining twenty times, the reference is to spiritual salvation (Matthew 1:21; 10:22; 19:25; 24:13, 22; Mark 8:35; 10:26; 13:13, 20; 16:16; Luke 7:50; 8:12; 9:24; 13:23; 18:26; 19:10; John 3:17; 5:34; 10:9; 12:47).

SAVIORhas to mean everything in the Greek words soter & sozo. When God the Holy Spirit inspired John in 1 John 4:14 to use the Greek word “savior", He did NOT intend to limit Jesus' “destruction of the works of the devil [1 John 3:8]” to ONLY spiritual salvation??? No, No, No. Jesus’ salvation of the world includes; deliverance from disease or demon possession, AND rescue of physical life from impending partial or instant death; in addition to spiritual salvation. Certainly Jesus’ Salvation was absolutely total and complete from all evil! He is truly the One who saves from danger or destruction and brings into a state of prosperity and happiness (Sept.: Judges 3:9, 15).

When “Jesus gave Himself for us & redeemed us from ALL iniquity" [Titus 2:14*] on the cross; it means we can by faith live an abundant life free from sin, the devil, sickness, disease, poverty, want, lack and any and all destructions [Psalm 103]. Jesus said, “all things are possible to him that believes”[Mark 9:23] and “as thou hast believed, so be it done unto you” [Matthew 8:13]. Jesus saved us from all evil. Don’t let the devil deceive you any further. Resist him and all evil and he will flee from you [James 4:7]. And, “nothing shall by any means hurt you” [Luke 10:19].

*Titus 2:14 (KJV) Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
