“If you find yourself suffering with anxiety, depression, anger, frustration, defeat, a victim mindset, what you want is a NEW SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES. What you need is a NEW PERSPECTIVE!” J Loren Norris

When we change how we look at things, the things we look at seem to change as well.

Dr. Caroline Leaf calls it the Multiple Perspective Advantage. So far as we are able to understand, it is a phenomenon of human psychological make up, meaningfully no other animals are capable of this exercise.

Simply put, we have the unique ability to mentally remove ourselves from a situation or circumstance to observe and consider the same event from another perspective, EVEN AS IT IS HAPPENING TO US. This distinctly human advantage is a powerful way for us to cope with trauma, with atrocities, with devastation and remain calm and analytical.

This MPA is as natural as breathing. It is available to every human soul on Earth. It is also skill which can be taught, practiced and mastered by those disciplined enough to do so. Just like a high performing athlete, a Navy Seal, an Olympic Swimmer or a Tibetan Monk who learns to master their breathing for performance, health and clarity, anyone can learn to master their MPA.

If you find yourself suffering with anxiety, depression, anger, frustration, defeat, a victim mindset, what you want is a NEW SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES. What you need is a NEW PERSPECTIVE!

Yes, a relief from current circumstances would be refreshing and enlightening. But if hope is fading, it is not likely CIRCUMSTANCES ALONE. If Viktor Frankl can survive the death camps of the Holocaust with hope for a future, your circumstances and mine can be overcome as well.

Its time to put your life into a new light. Apply the skills of the MPA and create the PERSPECTIVE you desire!!

Are you thinking about a come back after COVID-19?

HOW MUCH TIME HAVE YOU SPENT THINKING ABOUT YOUR COME BACK AFTER THE GLOBAL SHIFT OF COVID 19?

The question should not be “Will I mount a come back when all this isolation is over?”, but rather, “How will I mount a comeback when this is all over?”

·         Some are focused only on how to make money in lean times.

·         Some are focused on the fear of contracting the disease.

·         Some are focused on the loss of life, finances, status, opportunity.

·         Some are focused on the suspected “bigger agenda.”

I believe the wisest are those who are focused on becoming a better version of themself in this season.

Like my friend Cheri Garcia in this video she shared on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/posts/cherigarcia_stayinghome-ugcPost-6650840991563595777-kvBx)

We all have opportunity to grow, to learn, to improve in this season. We have all been given an incredible opportunity to slow down and smell the roses. We have all been challenged, pushed, pressed and restrained to GUARD OUR OWN LIVES!

What if we applied this opportunity to BECOMING BETTER, a better friend, a better spouse, a better leader, a better employee, A BETTER HUMAN in this season?

John Maxwell says, “Its not experience which makes us wise, it experience we take time to reflect on that makes us wise.”

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT in this time of isolation?

A FOOL IS A LEADER WHO TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE GULLIBLE

GULLIBLE IS ANOTHER WAY OF SAYING “YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW.”

If you are a leader who knows what others don’t, who takes advantage of their ignorance YOU ARE A SHAMEFUL FOOL!

Yes, if you are one of the following:

- Political leaders who make rules regarding stock trading in order to participate in “insider trading” which is illegal to anyone else.

- Political leaders who manipulate laws to deceive and control the population with rules they don’t have to follow.

- Sales people who finagle a deal based on the “newest product to market” before the research is revealed to all.

- The physician who prescribed a drug based on kick backs rather than “best results for the patient”.

- The teacher who manipulates the “reading material” to promote a political, social, cultural agenda disguised as a reading lesson.

- The mechanic who charges for work they didn’t do, but no one can prove it.

- A journalist who focuses on “gotcha styled questions” designed only to trap and embarrass the interviewee rather than finding the truth.

This description defines you, A SHAMEFUL FOOL.

Yes, I deceived my sister in the story in the video. I was a shameful fool in many ways as teenager.

If you are a professional, a legislator, a trusted advisor, a leader and you are still taking advantage of others based on what you know and they don’t, SHAME ON YOU!

Stress leads to bad decisions

https://www.jlorennorris.com/podcast/stress-leads-to-bad-decisions?ct=t(BLOG_feed_to_ell)&mc_cid=a2845d2e27&mc_eid=39cb1b893f

STRESS AND PRESSURE LEAD TO BAD DECISIONS. Values will offset the stress!

Decisions made under pressure are often decisions made with little evaluation of the long term consequences. Most humans will succumb to the “fight or flight” emotions, hormones and biochemicals in the brain and body. These instincts generally push us to make decisions which solve ONLY what seems to be the immediate threat or danger.

First responders, pilots, athletes, professional fighters and medical professionals all train to respond in such intense situations so that their reflexive response will be based more on training than reacting in a crisis.

Relationally speaking, we should all establish our own core values and practice/ rehearse/ train ourselves to respond with those value based decisions under any circumstances. This exercise will allow us to face the stress of this season of life with the confidence our decisions were made long before we got into such dire circumstances.
